The Poppys Group of companies, with an annual turnover of US$50 million, is the brain child of our Chairman Dr. A. Sakthivel Hailing from Tirupur, in Southern India he started out as a young ambitious entrepreneur in 1973. Through sheer hard work, dedication and innovative trade practices he has sown the seed and nurtured Poppys Knitwear Pvt Ltd to be one of the leading knitwear exporters of India. Dr. A. Sakthivel's endeavour has placed Tirupur as a name to be reckoned with in the Global market with respect to the Knitwear Industry.

The success of Poppys Knitwear is a reflection of the unstinting commitment and encouragement of Dr. A. Sakthivel, Our Chairman. His efforts have been vital to the development of the company as one of the best administered companies in Tirupur.

Poppys Knitwear Pvt Ltd has opened up global markets for its products. It exports to over 50 countries worldwide and is a trusted supplier to global brands like Marks & Spencer’s, Next and Tesco, Waitrose, Mothercare, Debenhams, John Lewis, etc. Poppys also has an enviable product range that includes knitted and woven wear for men, women and children.

CHAIRMAN : Padmashri Dr. Shri. A. Sakthivel

Poppys Knitwear is led from the front by Padmashri Dr. A. Sakthivel, a pioneer in the field of Knitwear Manufacturing and Exports. His unparalleled service to the export sector, especially to the Apparel Sector and Knitting Industry , and also his involvement in the creation of infrastructure such as Industrial parks, Inland Container Depot, Schools, National Institute of Fashion Technology-TEA, and the contributions to the Society at large, like bringing water to Tirupur for both Industrial and Domestic usage, and setting up of an effective drainage system in the district has been acknowledged by the Union Government of India. He holds the honour of being the first recipient of the PADMASHRI award from the Textile Industry.

Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore conferred the Degree of Doctor of Literature (Honoris Causa) for his pivotal role in motivating many enterprising and capable youngsters to make a career in export, his dedicated involvement in visionary projects and initiatives and his immeasurable contribution to the growth of the industry and to the development of the society.

He has also been privileged with many honours and accolades in recognition of his incomparable yeoman service to the business community and the society at large.

The Central Government recognized his unparallel service to export sector specially to Apparel sector and Knitting Industry and also for creation of infrastructure such as industrial parks, inland Container depot, School, Fashion Institute, bringing water for Industrial usage as well as drinking purpose, drainage system and many more, by conferring, “PADMASHRI” award in the year 2009 and proudly say that is the first time in the history of Padma awards for the entrepreneur from Textile Industry and also the sector has been honored with this prestigious award in recognition of his distinguished service in the field of Trade and Industry.

MANAGING DIRECTOR : Shri.Sakthivel Kaleswara Vignesh

Sakthivel Kaleswara Vignesh is a Master of Business Administration in International business from London and has been in the field of trade ever since he graduated. Even when he was a student, he started his career as an intern in an export house and learnt the nuances of the trade from grassroots level. He has travelled extensively around the globe and is adept with the ins and outs of the cement, detergents, paper, sugar, bio fuel and lighting industry in addition to the textiles exports which he currently deals in. Sakthivel Kaleswara Vignesh has a vast experience of 14 years in the field of exports right from manufacturing till shipping. Under his able administration, the Group has achieved a Turnover of USD 50 Millions. He has been instrumental in providing employment for 5000 people. With his expertise and thorough knowledge in banking, accounting and finance, Poppys was able to diversify and venture into new ventures like Hotel Industry and Travel Division. Under his renowned leadership, the group has achieved many breakthroughs.

CEO : Mrs. Sasikala Kathirvel

Sasikala Kathirvel is a B.Tech Graduate in Textile Technology from Bannari Amman Institute of Technology, Sathyamangalam and has a vast experience of 19+ years in the field of Marketing, Designing , Production, Sourcing, Merchandising and Senior Level Administrative Experience in the Apparel industry. Her passion towards textiles paved the way for her career in the year 2000 by associating her with the various aspects of the trade. Kids Wear has been her Core Sector. She possesses substantial knowledge of respective merchandise categories and fabrications. She also has strong team orientation capability and has the ability to maintain cooperative working relationships. She has worked for most famous and reputed brands like Dunnes stores , Childrens place, Mothercare & Very. A goal-driven professional with demonstrated ability to identify and capitalize on profitable opportunities.

BABYSAFE is the registered trademark of Poppys Garments, a company in the business of Knitwear manufacture and exports for the past few decades. The company has a rich experience in catering to the International Brand leaders in the Knitwear segment, and carries the lessons learnt and the expertise to its own Brand BABYSAFE.

All of the products under the brand is made of 100% Organic Cotton, using eco friendly practices. Babysafe garments are totally free of toxic dyes and chemicals. The fabric undergoes a “SUPER SOFT” treatment before being cut and sewn, ensuring the soft hand feels even after multiple washes. The garments passes through stringent quality checks set to European standard and are packed in a metal free zone, ensuring they live up to their name BABYSAFE. We welcome trade enquiries.
